Xiongben’s 40 City Journey and the Birth of Wanderpaws

Xiongben’s 40 City Journey and the Birth of Wanderpaws

The story began on an ordinary day.
At a small kennel, a frail little dog quietly walked toward us — that was our first meeting.
He wasn’t the one we had planned to take home.
He was the one who chose us.
As if he already knew that we were his family.

His name was Xiongben — Xiong meaning “bear,” and Ben meaning “origin” or “from within.”
From that day on, this little life became forever connected to the name Wanderpaws.

But fate soon prepared its first trial for him.
Not long after arriving home, before he even had the chance to truly settle in, Xiongben fell ill — first pneumonia, then coronavirus, followed by parasites, and finally distemper.

For two long months, every day meant another hospital visit, another injection. Over a hundred in total.
His weight dropped, yet he never gave up.
He still wagged his tail, played when he could, and looked up at his mom with bright, brave eyes.

One day, we said, “He’s not just a dog. He is a little warrior.”
And so the name was sealed: Xiongben.
“Born like a bear, strong enough to face anything, and destined to carry blessings.”

When he finally recovered, life seemed to glow again.
From that moment on, we began a long journey of travel and living together, a nomadic path filled with tenderness and discovery.
Home was no longer a fixed place, but a series of beautiful and fleeting landscapes.

Over seven years, we traveled through more than forty cities.
Each one carries the traces of Xiongben’s paws and scent.
We opened a small shop in Anhui.

lived by the sea in Huizhou;

Walked through forests in Shanghai,

chased horses on the grasslands of Zhangbei;

Watched shadow plays in Tai’an,

picked bamboo leaves in Xuancheng;

Visited the ocean world in Wuxi,

bought breakfast like locals in Wuhan;

Wore flower crowns in Wuyuan,

celebrated his fifth birthday on Nanao Island;

Tasted authentic Qingyuan chicken,

and admired ancient tulou in Fujian Longyan.

Each stop was a surprise life offered along the way. And through these experiences, a brand began to take shape — a brand built on stories, warmth, and gentle living.

Every stop along the journey was a surprise life offered along the way.
At first, we recorded his travels with pen and paper, writing down where we went each day, what he did, and the laughter we shared. Later, the number of photos kept growing. Phones were lost, some were damaged by water, and many memories quietly disappeared in the delay of “I will back them up later” or “I will organize them when I have time.” That moment felt especially painful. We realized that things we believed would always be there could truly vanish.

So we decided to preserve our journeys more carefully. We began printing our photos, adding simple notes, and placing them into albums. Not to make them perfect, but so that on an ordinary evening, when we open an album, we can see the traces of his path. A series of journeys. Pages of albums. One pawprint after another.

Wanderpaws slowly took shape from this very feeling.

Charms collected from every city;

And travel lists filled with stories and warmth.

We also wrote sixty articles on how to care for dogs with sensitive stomachs,
not only to share experience, but to record resilience and growth.
Today, Xiongben is healthy and joyful,
a little travel companion with bright eyes and a smile full of warmth.

He is no longer the frail puppy struggling to survive,
but the beating heart of a story that continues to grow.
He teaches what companionship means, what perseverance looks like, and what it truly means to be home.

For us, living on the road is not an escape, but a journey of discovery.
Every land, every ocean, and every stranger we meet along the way
has become part of the most precious memories of the Xiongben family.

In the end, we turned all of this into the soul of our brand:
Wanderpaws, the journey of a little dog, a record we wished to leave for Xiongben after walking through worry, relief, and companionship together. We know deeply how precious these journeys are, simply because we are able to set out with him by our side.

At a time when AI has entered everyday life, we chose to slow down and create something that belongs only to our shared memories. The handwritten notes, the photos we carefully pasted, and the small beautiful things collected along the way are all preserved, so that memories will not be lost, will not fade, and can remain cherished for years to come.

What we truly care about is not the road beneath our feet, but whether we can gather small moments of happiness along the way, the happiness we experienced together.
